Nikon focus problems

I have a Nikon D50 with a Nikon 70-300mm zoom lens the problem is when I use a Poloriser it will not focus sharply. Any ideas? Nobody

Just noticed that no one has been able to reply to your question......

It is a circular polariser and not linear, isn't it?
(They are both round filters)
